Travel Journal - London 2024 - Day 3 - Morning - Tower of London, Crown Jewels & Tower Bridge Experience

 Day 3 Agenda:

Today it was much nicer, clear skies and no drizzle.  So I walked down from the hotel to the Embankment tube station and then took the District line to Tower Hill station.

A very quiet Seven Dials early in the morning

Seven Dials Unicorn!

These floral doorways seemed to be everywhere.

Once I emerged from Tower Hill station, I explored the Tower Hill Memorial for the Merchant Navy.

Tower of London early in the morning.

Beside the Memorial, I found a very fancy hotel - The Four Seasons - which was open.  I asked the bellman if I could take a walk through the hotel, and he said "Yes, please do!".

This is the beautiful main restaurant in the hotel.  They were serving breakfast at the time...sadly I didn't have enough time before the Tower of London tour.  Maybe next time.

I continued to explore around, and I found a very interesting juxtaposition of ancient with modern - an ancient Roman fortress wall right beside a modern restaurant.

The next time I visit London, I'm definitely coming back to the Wine Library!

Our tour guide for today's tour.

Skygarden Building - going to Fenchurch for dinner later!

No photography was allowed in the Crown Jewels museum. The "people movers" were ingenious. We were there early in the morning, so no crowds.  But when it's busy, the people movers are definitely needed.

Inside the Tower is a massive collection of armor from various periods, including armor for horses and even children!

After exploring the Tower of London, our guide led us to Tower Bridge where I took the lift up to the walkway with a glass floor up top of the bridge.

I spent a quiet evening at the hotel this evening, as tomorrow will be a very busy day!
