Tonight I attended the "industry night" show of Ronnie Burkett's latest marionette improvised creation "The Daisy Theatre", starring Ronnie Burkett, his unbelievable collection of beautifully crafted marionettes, and a few lucky souls from the audience.
I have been going to see Ronnie Burkett shows since I moved to Calgary. Each show is a unique piece of art in it's own right. And this time is yet another totally unique, touching, and utterly hilarious show. He brings each character to life, some of whom will touch your heart, freak you out, demand your absolute diva-worship, and show us things about life that we in modern society have mostly forgotten in our hustle and bustle.
This is a puppet show, but it is NOT for kids...AT ALL. This is puppet theatre for adults at it's absolute best. So many tongue-in-cheek double-entendres my cheeks were aching 10 minutes into the show because I was laughing and smiling so much.
I loved this show. I've collected a few pics from the internet of some of the characters from The Daisy Theatre, but they really don't do them justice. The life that Ronnie (and one audience member) breathes into his characters is absolutely magical.
DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW!
